SNIFFLES AND SNEEZLES!
It’s the middle of winter, and “everyone” (including bears) start to get runny noses, aches and pains, and coughs!
The Vanderbears are no exception, so when Muffy wakes up sneezing, Alice knows something is waiting to happen!
Sure enough! By afternoon, Muffy says her head aches, she can’t stop sneezing, and even her fur hurts!
When the twins get home from school, they are sneezing and coughing too, so Alice gets right to work!
First, she moves all of their beds close to the warm fire, and sets up “medicine tables” nearby.
Then she feeds the children a bowl of chicken noodle soup with crackers and plenty of juice!
After dinner, she sends them straight to bed! Nobody complains, because by now they are sniffling, sneezing, coughing, aching, and not feeling their “bear-selves!”
Next, she goes to the medicine cabinet and finds all kinds of “cures” for whatever ails the cubs.
“Hmmm . . . ” Alice thinks to herself. “There’s things for indigestion, tummy aches, upset stomachs . . . No, thank goodness they don’t need any of that!”
“But let’s see . . . they’ll need some menthol rub for their chests, pills for their aches and pains, a thermometer, and something for coughs. “
The next morning, the cubs are feeling a little better – at least well enough to play in their beds!
After a few days, the sneezing has stopped, their bear noses have quit running, their aches and pains are gone, and Alice is sure that Fluffy and Fuzzy are ready to go back to school!
When they are all well, the beds go back where they belong . . .
The medicine cabinet is closed . . .
The chicken noodle soup is all devoured, and practically every cracker gone!
Muffy remarks, “I’m glad I feel all better, but getting to sleep by the fire with Fluffy and Fuzzy was fun. Maybe we can get the ‘Sniffles and Sneezles’ again soon!”
Happy Recovery to All!!
They can “bear-ly” wait for you to come and visit again . . .
