SOME SILLY SHENANIGANS!
It’s March 1st! The Vanderbears decide they can now start decorating for St. Patrick’s Day!
Fluffy, Muffy and Fuzzy hang garlands on the mantle, hutch and lastly on the bonnet-top cabinet.
This time, everyone wants to help decorate the tree on the porch. (Sometimes, there’s just too much help!)
Finally, when the actual day arrives, the children get up that morning to find something amiss . . .
First they notice that “someone” has tipped over the chair, and forgotten to pick it back up again!
Next, they notice that the cereal is spilled all over the table, and the milk has turned green!
“Wait a minute!” Yells Fuzzy! “I know what’s going on! A leprechaun is somewhere in the house!”
Sure enough! The children can see little green footprints by the front door!
“Quick!” Fluffy says. “Let’s see if we can catch him! If we do, he has to tell us where his pot of gold is hidden!”
As fast as they can, the children gather together a box, a stick, some string and some “gold coins!” They decorate the box and try to lure the leprechaun into their trap!
They “hide” and wait, but no one appears . . .
Except their father, who asks, “What are you doing? It looks like you got out of bed and started playing so early that you forgot to put on any green!”
“Greenie on you!” He says, as he good-naturedly tries to catch them to give them a big soft pinch!
As Alice surveys the mess on the table, the children all scurry to get their “Greenie Day” attire on, and forget about the leprechaun for a short time.
Soon they hear a commotion on the porch . . .
And run to see what’s happening!
They open the door just in time to see “someone” in a little green outfit scurry over the front gate! “Wow! Was that a leprechaun we just saw?” They all shout!
“We almost caught him!” Muffy exclaims! “We love leprechaun’s silly shenanigans!” They all chime in. “I hope he lets us try to catch him again next year!”
Happy St. Patrick’s Day to All!!
They can “bear-ly” wait for you to come and visit again . . .
