POP’S PURLOINED PICNIC!

POP'S PURLOINED PICNIC!

It’s Father’s Day!

After church, Alice has planned for the family to go to Lily Pond Park for a Father’s Day Picnic!

She has made them all matching bandanas.  (Including Lulu, Purlie and Rascal!)

She has packed all she can into the picnic basket, but there doesn’t seem to be enough room!

They finally land on an idea to help them carry all they want to take . . . a wheelbarrow!

As soon as they arrive at the park, Cornelius builds a fire in the grill . . .

While Alice and the children spread out the picnic blanket . . .

And start setting out the plates and food.

Cornelius starts grilling steaks, hamburgers and sausages!  (There’s not enough room to grill everything at once, so there will be multiple grillings . . . just what Cornelius loves!)

While they’re waiting for the grilling to be finished, the children and pups go to the pond where they try to catch frogs and minnows.  (No luck, as both the frogs and minnows are too fast and slippery!)

At long last, the hungry family sits down to the delicious picnic!

No sooner do they begin eating when they see something coming their way!  “ANTS!”  They all yell!  BIG! HUNGRY! ANTS!

They all jump out of the way as the ants descend on their food and start to carry off the bear’s picnic!

Alice saves the day by quickly picking everything up that the ants haven’t already carted away, and shooing everyone back home where they finish their Pop’s Day Picnic on their “ant-free” porch!

“I love picnics!”  Says Fuzzy.  “Me too.  But not with ants!”  Fluffy says.  “Especially when they’re not invited!”  Says Muffy!

Happy Father’s Day to All!!

They can “bear-ly” wait for you to come and visit again . . .
