A HEART HOLIDAY!

A HEART HOLIDAY!

Valentine’s Day is on it’s way!

Since the Vanderbears apparently slept through New Year’s and most of January, they are excited to start adding some color back into the cottage . . .

So they get to work putting up their Valentine decorations.

Alice has again made bows (and a tablecloth), for the occasion, and the family portrait is taken.

This year, however, the cubs think that “more is better,” and get out some colored paper and scissors . . .

And begin cutting out paper hearts.

Alice is delighted the energetic cubs have something fun and different to keep them occupied after being cooped up through a very long January.

They also work on decorating boxes with hearts and doilies (acquired at Bearsworth’s 5 and dime store), for the Valentines they hope to receive at school.  (Muffy joins in even though she’s not yet in kindergarten!)

While the cubs are happily working on their projects, Alice and Cornelius don their aprons and get busy in the kitchen . . .

Making Valentine treats . . . after Valentine treats . . . after Valentine treats!

(OH MY!!  Alice and Cornelius are talented and fast!)

Cakes . . .

More cakes . . .

Still more . . .

Even more!

Candy . . .

More candy!

Cookies . . .

More cookies!

Cupcakes . . .

More cupcakes!

Donuts . . .

A cherry pie . . .

And even a chocolate tart!

“It looks like a  bakery in here.”  Says Alice.  “Yes!  Yum!”  The rest of the family cheers!

Later that day, after the cub’s “extra” decorating is done, they all look around the cottage in amazement . . .

“It looks like an explosion of hearts!”  The cubs exclaim!

“Yes!”  Says Alice.  “It looks like a true ‘heart holiday’ is happening around here . . . “

“But the best part is the ‘heart-y’ snack to go with our heart theme!”  Chuckles Cornelius.  “Hooray for Valentine’s Day!”  They all shout, as they hungrily dig into the treats!

Happy Valentine’s Day to All!!

They can “bear-ly” wait for you to come and visit again . . .
