A RASCAL’S RESCUE!

A RASCAL'S RESCUE!

Spring has finally arrived in the Vanderbear’s neck of the woods!

At last the cubs are able to go outside and play with their “big” toys.

While they are playing, they hear crying . . .

“What’s that?  Is someone crying?” Asks Fuzzy.  “No,” says Fluffy, “it sounds more like whimpering!  What whimpers?” Asks Muffy.  “DOGS!”  They all shout!

“Hurry!  Let’s find out what’s wrong!  Shouts Fluffy . . . “

They follow the whimpering sound to an empty log.

Inside the log they see a cute little gray puppy who can’t climb back out over the rocks.  “You little rascal!  How did you get in there?”  Fuzzy exclaims!

They carefully remove the rocks, and out scampers a very dirty and disheveled pup!

He plays with the children until it’s time for them to go home.

They tell the puppy to “stay” so his owner can come back and get him . . .

But as the cubs start off, they are being followed!

When they arrive home they all shout, “Mom!  Look what followed us home!  Can we keep him?”  (Alice loves dogs, but she reminds them that they already have a dog, Lulu and a cat, Purlie.)

“But Mom, he’s hungry and dirty!” They exclaim!  “Okay,” says Alice, “but after he’s eaten and bathed, we’ll have to try to find his owners.”

They get right to work!  First they give him plenty to eat . . .

And give him a good bath, with lots and lots of bubbles!

Afterwards, Alice gives him a trim so he can at least see where he’s going!

The children then make signs about the “found puppy,” and hang them all over the neighborhood.

By now, the children have put a bandana on, are calling him Rascal, and have made him a nice bed.  (He’s looking mighty spiffy!)

After a few weeks and no one claims the cute little dog, he moves in permanently . . .

Everyone loves Rascal (including Lulu and Purlie), and he becomes a member of the family.

“I’m so glad we were able to rescue Rascal!’ Says Fuzzy.  “So he could have a good home!” Fluffy adds.  “So we could have another dog!”  Muffy exclaims!

Happy “Hounding” to All!!

They can “bear-ly” wait for you to come and visit again . . .
