SCAMPERING TO SCHOOL!

SCAMPERING TO SCHOOL!

It’s almost time for a new school year to start!

Alice has made bandanas for the twins for the first day of school, plus matching bandanas for the rest of the family.  (Including Rascal, Lulu and Purrlie!)

She has also cut out matching napkins and covers for their lunch pails . . .

And is now making backpacks for their school supplies (and one of everything for Muffy so that she doesn’t feel left out)!

The new backpacks are all tried on.  “Hooray!” the children yell!  “They’re great!”

The children then gather up their school supplies:  Slates, chalk, erasing cloths, books, rulers, and scissors.

The supplies are all put into their backpacks.  “Wow!  What fun!  Everything fits in just right!”  They excitedly exclaim!

The first day of school finally arrives!  The children are up early and eagerly get dressed in their new attire.  Alice has fixed a wonderful meal to start the new school year . . .

“Be sure and eat a good breakfast so you’ll do well on your first day at school!”  Their mother reminds them.

After breakfast, they help their mother pack a lunch to take to school:  A cheese sandwich, an apple, some potato chips, carrots and cookies.  “Yum!” they say.

It’s all packed into their new lunch pails, covered with a cloth, and tied with some ribbon!  (Muffy gets her lunch packed in a new lunch pail too, to eat at home with her mom and dad.)

The lunch pails are then loaded into their little red wagon.

The twins, Cornelius, Alice and Muffy (along with Lulu and Rascal), then head out their gate to walk to school.

Everyone stays close together for a short time, but the twins excitedly scamper ahead, with Muffy and Lulu close behind!

Their new teacher, Miss Bearington, welcomes them, as some of their friends wave “hi!”

After Miss Bearington rings the bell and the class is seated . . .

She tells them that this year they will be learning reading, writing and arithmetic, (as well as several other fun subjects), and of course, there will be time for lunch and two recesses!

They start out with arithmetic problems, and everyone seems to know the answer!

After a busy morning, everyone is anxious for lunch . . .

And recess!  There’s marbles, hopscotch, jump the rope, jacks, and assorted balls to play with!

After more afternoon lessons, at 3:00 they head home.

“How was your first day of school?” Cornelius and Alice ask, as the children hungrily eat the snack that Alice has prepared  . . .

“It was great” the twins yell, “but the best part was seeing all our friends again!!

Cornelius then muses, “Sounds like you can’t wait to scamper off to school again tomorrow!”

Happy Learning to All!

They can “bear-ly” wait for you to come and visit again . . .
