THE 4th FESTIVITIES!

THE 4th FESTIVITIES!

It’s the 4th of July!  Independence Day!  Hooray for the Red, White and Blue!

The Vanderbears have decorated their cottage . . .

And themselves . . .

All in red, white and blue.  Inside . . .

And out!

The cubs have gotten up early to decorate their wagons and tricycle for the annual neighborhood parade.

Alice and Cornelius have also gotten up early – Alice to prepare another delicious picnic, and Cornelius to get the ice cream maker ready.

This time Alice fixes bologna sandwiches, chips, fruit, veggies and sodas. Cornelius gathers all the fixins for homemade ice cream –  cream, sugar, vanilla and salt.  There’s also cupcakes, cookies and other assorted treats.  (It’s the 4th of July after all, and bears can always use extra desserts!)

When everything is ready, they all head out for the parade with their decorated conveyances and their packed picnic basket.

Alice and Cornelius, along with other assorted spectators, line the route to watch the parade.

There’s Fuzzy leading the way, closely followed by the the rest of the parade!  “Yay, Fuzzy!”  Yell his parents!  “Hooray for Fluffy!”  They continue.  “Go, Muffy!”  They say as they wave to them all!

(Apparently, in all the excitement, Muffy has misplaced her hat!)

“What a great parade!  What fun!”  Everyone yells and claps!

After the parade, the family gathers in a shady spot and sets up their picnic.

Everyone needs to help crank the ice cream maker!

The picnic is devoured in no time and the bears settle down for some naps, cloud watching and softball.

After a long and fun filled day, the tired family heads home where the cubs get to light sparklers on the porch, and Alice dishes up the last of the homemade ice cream.

“I love the 4th of July!”  Fluffy says.

“I love getting to be in a parade!”  Fuzzy remarks.  “I love getting to stay up past dark!”  Says Muffy!

Happy 4th of July to All!!

They can “bear-ly” wait for you to come and visit again . . .
