THE TALKING TURKEY!
Thanksgiving is on it’s way again!
The Vanderbears decorate their cottage inside . . .
Outside . . .
Upside . . .
Downside . . .
And all . . .
Around the house!
The twins are having a Pilgrim Party at school, so with the children and pets looking on, Alice makes them Pilgrim collars for the occasion.
She likes them so much she decides to make them for the whole family! (Including Lulu, Purrlie and Rascal.) Now even Cornelius is interested!
It’s also time to start planning for their Thanksgiving feast . . .
So Alice makes a list of food items that she doesn’t have on hand. First on the list – a turkey!
While she is busy sewing, Cornelius goes off to buy the turkey and the other needed groceries.
About an hour later, Cornelius returns . . .
With a REAL LIVE TURKEY!!
“Cornelius, why isn’t it a ready-to-roast turkey like we always get?” Alice asks.
“Well,” Cornelius says sheepishly, “I went to the farm where we usually buy our turkey, and there was Thomas. Believe it or not, he can talk!”
“That’s right, Mrs. Vanderbear.” Thomas says politely. “I asked Mr. Vanderbear if he would please take me home with him. He said it was okay with him, if it’s okay with you!”
“Can we keep him Mom? P-l-e-a-s-e!” Beg the children!
“Hmmm . . . Alice looks questionably at Cornelius about having yet another pet . . .
“Oh, I guess he can stay! After all, he can talk!” Says Alice.
“HOORAY!” Shout the cubs!
“Oh, thank you, Mrs. Vanderbear! Says Thomas. “I’ll be a really good pet!”
Thanksgiving is officially here, and they all dress up for the occasion . . .
And have their picture taken for posterity.
Afterwards, they take off their hats and bonnets and say a Prayer of Thanksgiving for all that they have . . .
Then look down at their bologna sandwich Thanksgiving dinner.
Not your traditional Thanksgiving menu, they all think to themselves . . .
“But bologna sandwiches are always good!” They all exclaim out loud in unison! (Thomas is especially thankful for the non-traditional Thanksgiving Feast!)
“What a memorable Thanksgiving!” Says Cornelius. “Instead of Thomas feeding us, we’re feeding him! As much as I love a good bologna sandwich, I think next year I’ll let someone else do the shopping!”
Happy Thanksgiving to All!!
They can “bear-ly” wait for you to come and visit again . . .
